Although summer seems to have just ended, we are already receiving a sneak peek of what the holiday shopping season has in store for us in terms of sales. Amazon announced on August 8 that it will once again host a sale exclusively for Prime members in October, and on September 17, the online retailer confirmed the dates: October 10 and October 11.
This savings event, called "Prime Big Deal Days," is not labeled as a pre-Black Friday sale. However, given its proximity to the Black Friday shopping season, we view it as a sort of pre-Black Friday sale.
The Prime Big Deal Days sale will take place in 19 countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Amazon has a history of hosting major savings events in October. In 2020, the annual Prime Day sale was held on October 13 and 14, a shift from its usual July date due to the pandemic. In 2021, Amazon launched a section called "Black Friday-worthy deals" on its website on October 4, featuring new deals each week until the actual Black Friday sale in November. In 2022, Amazon held its two-day Prime Early Access sale on October 11 and 12.
Although the fall Prime Day sale is not officially a Black Friday sale, it offers an excellent opportunity to start holiday shopping and take advantage of savings if you don't want to wait until November. Considering Amazon's consistency in hosting the fall Prime Day sale around the same time each year, it is likely that a pre-Black Friday sale will be launched on November 1.
During Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days sale, you can anticipate significant markdowns on Amazon's Alexa-enabled devices, Kindle e-readers, and products from its home decor, fitness, and apparel brands. Additionally, popular products from well-known beauty, small kitchen appliance, vacuum, and toy brands are likely to be included in the deals selection.
Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime, shared that "[Prime] members can shop deals across categories like fashion, home and toys that include some of our most popular items during Prime Big Deal Days. They can also take advantage of other exciting Prime member benefits, like shopping favorite brands beyond Amazon.com with Buy with Prime and accessing doorbuster deals with Invite-only deals."
While this fall Prime Day sale has a different name, it remains exclusively available to Amazon Prime members and will likely follow a similar two-day timeline. To participate in the Prime Big Deal Days sale, an Amazon Prime membership is required, which currently costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Amazon also offers a 30-day free trial for Amazon Prime, allowing you to shop the sale with a trial membership.
